Summer of 1908 and 2014

This summer has been such an improvement over last year when I had my operation and could not draw or throw pottery. Although the weather has varied from extreme heat to too much rain all at once, I have been throwing pots on my back porch. Since December my work has been selling at a … Continue reading

Peter Pan Touring Season 1911-1912

The 1911-12 touring company of Peter Pan featured such regulars as Pauline Chase, George Shelton, William Luff, John Kelt, Violet Hollom, and James English. Oh yes, and of course, Jane Wren…tee hee hee. The tour included such cities as Kennington, North London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Leeds, and Bristol, where the company performed at the Prince’s Theatre. … Continue reading

Touring Seasons 1908-09 and 1909-1910

The 1908-09 tour of the provinces of England included many of the same cast members of the London production so I am only including cast changes. As I do not own any primary touring sources from that season I am using Roger Lancelyn Green’s well documented Fifty Years of Peter Pan. George Shelton played Smee for … Continue reading

The 1907-08 Tour Season

Despite my search over the years for early touring programmes of Peter Pan, I have not been able to locate programmes from several years including the 1907-08 through 1908-09 seasons. (And let us not forget the 1906-07 tour with Zena Dare; an elusive programme if ever there was one.) While there were two touring companies … Continue reading

Will There Ever Be Another Blog?

My goodness, I can’t believe how long it has been since I’ve posted something on this site. It’s not for having nothing to write; I have just been so busy with directing chores at school and painting watercolors for a children’s book I’m writing. Meanwhile, I am still looking for Peter Pan ephemera and other items and art … Continue reading

Peter Pan at Theatre du Vaudeville in Paris and Tittell Brune

I was going to write a different entry for this week’s blog when I heard from Andrew Cutmore regarding Violet and Herbert Hollom. He wrote: “I don’t know if what I’m going to say is known or not (I haven’t got Bruce’s book yet, I’m afraid!) but I have recently found out that there was a performance of Peter Pan at … Continue reading

The Holloms- A Family Tradition Continued

THANK YOU FOR YOUR NOTES First of all, let me thank everyone for their notes of concern regarding my arm. The last of the test results were given to me yesterday. Results; no operation necessary. I was  given a steroid shot instead. Secondly, I received an email from Lisa, the head editor at McFarland,  that everything was in order (she … Continue reading

The Holloms in Peter Pan- A Family Tradition

There have been several noted families whose members appeared in Peter Pan through the years. Margaret Lockwood played Peter to her daughter Julia Lockwood’s Wendy in England while in the U.S. Mary Martin seriously contemplated her daughter Heller playing Wendy until the decision was made to cast her as Liza. And of course, Cathy … Continue reading
